Smør Scandinavian Bakery Brand Refresh

Overview

Smør is a Scandinavian bakery in Sidney, BC, where the team makes cardamom buns, rye breads, kringles and other Nordic classics from scratch.

The bakery already had a logo with a heart icon and a signature red, and as it grew, it needed a system that could carry that warmth across everything customers see.

We took our direction from Scandinavian folk traditions, from painted ceramics to Dala horses, which share the everyday joy you feel walking into the shop.

Keeping the logo and red at the centre, we built an identity system with a brighter palette, Albert Sans typography and folk-inspired graphic elements. We carried it across labels, price cards, bread tags, a menu rack card, a bread schedule, napkin holder inserts featuring Scandinavian words, business cards, social templates and a full-page Seaside Magazine ad.

The result is a brand as warm as the bakery itself, with plenty of room for Smør to keep growing and creating a cohesive experience across all touchpoints.
