Overview

Thriving Roots was growing.

What began as wilderness programming had expanded into a broader ecosystem of education, mentoring, counselling, leadership development, and community connection. New programs were emerging. New audiences were finding their way in. The organisation needed a brand capable of supporting that growth while maintaining a strong connection to its purpose.

As we spent time with the team, one idea kept returning.

Thriving Roots functioned much like an old-growth forest.

Different layers served different purposes. Some programs introduced children to nature for the first time. Others helped youth build confidence, resilience, and leadership skills. Counselling services created space for reflection, healing, and personal growth. Each part contributed to the health of the larger ecosystem.

That understanding became the foundation for the work.

We developed a flexible identity system built around a custom container mark designed to hold programs, stories, experiences, and future growth. A family of program identities, illustrations, environmental graphics, merchandise, social media assets, and communication tools created consistency across the organisation while allowing each offering to maintain its own distinct character.

The visual language drew inspiration from the natural world itself. Forest species, animal tracks, leaves, mushrooms, waterways, and seasonal change became part of a living system that could expand alongside the organisation. Individual programs were given their own identities while remaining clearly connected to the larger whole, creating a brand system that reflects the same qualities found in a healthy old-growth forest: diversity, connection, adaptability, and strength built over time.
